I was just reading the latest issue of ArtNews and there's an article on Ryan McGinness. He's a designer/artist interested in the space in between. He uses a lot of invented logos in his work.
In the article he says that he just stopped worrying if he was making art and decided to make what he wanted. good advice i think.
